Trip Description
- Take the trip of a lifetime out of Destin, Florida for giant yellowfin tuna! During this trip we will chase yellowfin tuna on a 2-day 36-48 hour overnight trip leaving out of Destin, Florida and fishing around the oil rigs that are towards the coast of Louisiana. We fish the same oil rigs that the popular Venice, Louisiana charter captains fish around and utilize the same techniques they do to catch giant yellowfin tuna. Depending on what the tuna are doing we will: 1. Chunk for them with cut bait 2. Troll for them with naked and skirted ballyhoo 3. Live bait for them 4. Jig for them with vertical jigs I will teach you and your crew everything that you will need to know and we will work as a team to load the fish boxes up with fish! This means you will be baiting hooks, putting lines in the water for trolling, rigging up ballyhoo, gaffing fish (the fun part), and jigging up black fins to use for chunking baits. The expectation is to load the fish boxes up with fish, enjoy some cold beverages, and have an absolute blast doing some hard work to catch fish! This is an extreme offshore fishing trip and not for the faint of heart. The boat that we will be fishing on is a 36' Yellowfin center console with triple Yamaha 300, outfitted with the latest Simrad electronics and CMOR chips. The cruise speed of the boat is around 45mph depending on sea conditions, topping out around 61mph. The boat has a full set of required safety equipment as well as alternatives such as an EPIRB and a Garmin InReach that can send satellite text messages and SOS alerts back to land. We have a full suite of Shimano reels, Mustad hooks, Seaguar line, and enough terminal and trolling tackle to sink the boat. We have 4 marine-grade bean bags for you guys to comfortably ride out to the tuna grounds and catch a little nap in on the way home and between spots. Most trip itineraries go like this: Day 1 - 8:00am - Leave Destin Pass Day 1 - 12:00pm - Arrive at the oil rigs and start fishing and bouncing around to different rigs until we find out where the fish are at Overnight - Jig up blackfin tuna and chunk for yellowfins with them all night Day 2 - Morning - Fish all morning Day 2 - 12:00pm - Start headed back to Destin Day 2 - 4:00pm - Arrive back to Destin harbor to clean boat and fish
Accommodations
- This trip includes all tackle, fuel, food, water, and Captain Morgan needed for an overnight trip. We cannot provide lodging at the moment. All you will need to do is to bring enough of your crews favorite beer to last you through the trip!
